About Ayurveda

We are part of a timeless, living, breathing consciousness, evolving from the manifestations of the universe since before we can truly imagine. Ayurveda, the knowledge of balanced living, came into daily consciousness over 5,000 years ago. It is a complete system of healing born out of the Vedas, a vast body of knowledge that includes Yoga, Meditation, Jyotisha and Vastu to name a few. Ayurveda provides guidelines from managing day-to-day life experiences, how to understand those day-to-day life experiences, and also how we can transcend these experiences revealing the greatest experience of all; complete awareness of self leading to complete balance with the universe.

Ayurveda was born out of intense deep study, through pure awareness, of how the elements around us can help to heal.  According to Ayurveda, the universe is made up of the elements Ether, Air, Fire, Water and Earth. These elements merge differently within each one of us to create our basic constitution. The foundation of who we are can become strengthened or brought out of balance depending upon inherited traits, environment or life experiences.

Once it is understood what your constitution consists of, then you can work towards keeping that constitution in balance. This is achieved with food, daily habits, enjoyable activities, yoga, meditation, pranayama and herbs. They all work to enhance your lifestyle, strengthen your immune system and boost your emotional capacity to be stable in yourself and your environment – no matter what the situation is. Ayurveda fully supports you in however you choose to live your life.

The profound beauty I experience through Ayurveda is the way it nurtures and strengthens that innate ability we have to love ourselves. And, ultimately, Love really is the key to a healthy balanced Life.
